1-4. A last minute dash to finish making the christmas presents; Preserved Lemons, Sweet'n'smokey nuts (Recipe from the lovely Amber) and muesli.
5. First time hosting Christmas so I lay the table the night before and this was what I woke to on the big day. I love that the kitchen table gets all the morning sun!
6-7. One of the Christmas 'traditions' that I started upon moving to New Zealand was making brioche. I make the dough on Christmas eve, store in the fridge over night, then on Christmas morning I leave them to prove for an hour or so and then bake. You can't beat a hot brioche roll while opening presents!
8. Mothers Pav.
9. We spent the whole day outside playing games and our Christmas lunch turned into a Christmas supper? Basically I put the chicken on when we ran out of cheese and nibbles.
10-11. We ate the pav with vegan cheese cakes, whipped coconut cream, plan yogurt and a tonne of Hawkes Bay berries - my little brother pulled through, he even queued on Christmas eve at the fruit stands to get me cherries!
12. A wee break from the heat and eating - we watched Home Alone and Faulty Towers.
13-14. It was lovely to have a few days off, yesterday we ate brunch in the sun, gluten-free nectarine hotcakes, orange juice and lots of coffee. Bliss.
